what is AKEA?

The Arabian Knowledge Economy Association (AKEA) is a not-for-profit organization that promotes knowledge/learning, intellectual capital, entrepreneurship, innovation, seed funding and research and technology leading to economic growth and sustainable development through fostering linkages across the Arab World and between the Arab World and other regions, be they the West (USA, Western Europe), East Asia (Japan, China, Korea), South Asia (India), et.al.

Purposes of AKEA:

• Promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Arab World including benchmarking current progress across regional industries
• Development of regional intellectual capital
• Exchange, transfer and dissemination of knowledge and technology regionally
• Pooling of funds to promote research and seed funding in the Arab World
• Planning for future industrial parks in the Arab World to supplant carbon-fuel-based industries in a post-petroleum world
• Promotion of green industries and workforces compatible with the long-term environmental sustainability of the Planet
• Rating public and private tertiary educational institutions in terms of their potential to contribute to the development of future human capital
• Identification of projects for seed funding and matching entrepreneurs to projects based on compatibility of project requirements with entrepreneurial resources and competencies.
• Serving as a clearing house of information and contacts on the Arab knowledge economy including the compilation of databases

At regular intervals to be identified on the organizational calendar of events, AKEA will hold conferences, focus group meetings and topical seminars of salience to the knowledge economy.

• Conduct regional knowledge economy training sessions
• Organize joint activities with other regional and international organizations
• Issue publications that members can access or subscribe to

• Monthly news letter (ten months per year excepting Ramadan and August)
• Annuals (“Who’s Who in the K-Economy across the Arab World”)
• Specials on an ad hoc basis
